Nascar
Racing 2003 Season
Gift From A Friend
October 28, 2004 - Thursday
A friend of mine bought a PC game for me this past
weekend. The only thing he asked of me was to get it installed and
start racing with their group online. They have a league going on
which includes about 12 - 15 people or so that I used to race RC
Cars with so I am pretty eager to try it out.
This past week has been extremely busy at the new house and I
haven't had a chance to get the game setup yet much less get online
to race. I am hoping I get a chance to give it a shot this weekend.
I bet they will enjoy lapping me left and right since they've
already been playing for months now.

Lunar
Eclipse
The New House
October 27, 2004 - Wednesday
We went by the new house tonight to apply a second coat of
paint to the downstairs powder room. Let me tell you that the color
red is a major pain to paint!!!
As we were leaving tonight I had notice the Lunar Eclipse. I had
previously known that the eclipse would be occurring tonight but I
had completely forgotten about it. Luckily I had my camera on hand
and got to shoot a few photos.

Winter
Is Coming
Back Yard
October 26, 2004 - Tuesday
This photo was taken during my lunch hour right behind our
building. There's not too much that goes on around here so subject
matter is a little scarce. hehe.
The house is coming along nicely and we can't wait until we get this
thing finished.

Time
To Kick Back
Mike's New Place
October 23, 2004 - Saturday
Lisa and I were invited to a friend's house warming get
together tonight so we cut our painting a little short so that we
could relax a little. This was the 1st Annual Oktoberfest and we
can't wait til the next one rolls around.
It was very nice to go hang out and enjoy a few drinks with friends.
We've been so busy at the house lately I almost forgot what they
looked like! Just Kidding guys!!! I know I'll get some bad emails on
that one!!!

Kitchen
Is Done
Well Almost
October 22, 2004 - Friday
The kitchen in the house is now complete. The paint and
wall texture is completed and all we have left to do is apply a coat
or two of paint and it will be finished. We took the
opportunity to also replace all of the cabinet and drawer hardware
with new brushed stainless pieces.
The kitchen looks completely different than it did when we bought
the house. I can't believe how well things are turning out and I
can't wait until we get to finally move in. We have about 4 more
weeks left in order to get everything completed before we can start
moving in. I think it's going to be a little close.

Game
7
SRO Sports Bar
October 21, 2004 - Thursday
Well here we are watching Game 7 in the NLCS Playoffs and
the Astros chances looked very good early on. A win tonight
would mean it would be the teams first appearance in the World
Series but we fell a little short.
Yes, we lost to St. Louis in Game 7 so they will be representing the
National League in this years World Series. This has been the
closest the Astros have every been to making it to the big show.

Mid
Day Break
Jillian's Restaurant
October 20, 2004 - Wednesday
Today was Game 6 in the NLCS Playoffs and we were a little
disappointed to see that the game started at 3pm in the afternoon!
That's just ridiculous! Anyways, we only need to win one more game
in order to insure our place in the 2004 World Series. We won 3 in a
row and I hope they make it 4!!!
Unfortunately we did not win. We lost and now the series is all tied
up at 3 wins a piece. The Final Game 7 is scheduled for tomorrow
night and it is winner takes all. We were all very down after
today's loss.

Reflection,
Take 2
My Mirror
October 19, 2004 - Tuesday
Nothing real special for today. Just a photo of my and my
camera. It's only Tuesday yet its been a very long week so far.
We've spent a lot more time at the new house painting the first
floor.
Game 6 in the NLCS Playoffs is tomorrow so I hope that the Astros
can pull it off!!!

Reflections
My Office
October 18, 2004 - Monday
Well here's a self portrait of myself while I was at work
today. I had my Canon S400 handy so I snapped off a photo of my
reflection in my sunglasses.
The image was pretty plain and flat looking so I edited it a little
bit in Photoshop in order to pull off that look. I think it looks
pretty cool. Our house is coming along nicely and we should have all
of the painting on the first floor completed this week. As soon as
we're done painting, our tile contractor will come in and lay our
new floor.

Nice
Cobra
O'Reilly's Car Show
October 17, 2004 - Sunday
On our way out to Home Depot to pick up some more paint we
noticed that a local auto parts store was having a little car show.
In order to take a break from picking paint colors, tile designs and
counter top colors we decided to pull in for a few minutes and check
it out.
There weren't too many cars there but the ones they did have looked
very nice. They made my little Mazda Protege 5 looks a little
insignificant. Well, it's half way paid for so I think I'll keep
it!!

What
You Looking At?!
The Houston Zoo
October 16, 2004 - Saturday
Lisa and I made a quick stop by the zoo today and got
about 20 minutes into the walk and decided to head out. It was a
little warm and humid to say the least. Maybe we should aim for
November to make a trip back out here.
During the 20 minutes or so that we were there I snapped off some
photos of this guy. He was very nervous and was definitely bother by
me pointing my big white lens at him. Every time I moved my hand to
zoom in or zoom out he kind of flinched a bit as if I was about to
shoot him literally!

Head
First at Hush
Hush
October 15, 2004 - Friday
Tonight a local band named Head
First played tonight at Club
Hush. I emailed the club earlier this week and asked permission
to photograph the band and they were very cool about it. This club
has a great lighting setup so I knew I would catch some great shots.
It's much better shooting bands here than it is in those dark,
somber bars.

There weren't many people there tonight but it did not seem to phase
the band at all. They put on a great show and Lisa and I look
forward to seeing them again in the future.

All of these images were taken with my Canon 10D and my 50mm f1.4
lens. I believe I shot most of them at ISO 800 at f2.0 and about
1/90th. The club's lighting was top notch! I loved shooting there
simply for that reason alone. Typically I shoot at bars and pubs etc
and those are very dimly lit with like maybe a couple of spot lights
with colored gels and that's all.
I'll
be forwarding some of these images over to the club and to
the band as well. I think they'll be happy with them.
Hopefully I can shoot there again in the near future.

Another
Duck
Mary Jo Peckham Park
October 14, 2004 - Thursday
Today during lunch I drove over to the park to feed the
duckies. It was about 70 degrees out and very windy so it was bit
chilly. Since I was wearing a short sleeve shirt it was a little too
windy to be out there today. I fed the ducks real quick, snapped a
few photos and quickly ran back to my car. Hehee. I know I'm a wimp.
It definitely feels like October now and it will only get cooler.
There are like 4 different large outdoor events happening this
weekend and I'm sure the weather will be perfect. Lisa and I will be
trying to make one of them but I'm not sure since we have a ton of
painting left to do in the new house.

Fire
Starter
Parent's House
October 13, 2004 - Wednesday
Lisa and I drove over to the new house tonight to drop of
some stuff we bought last night. Everything in the kitchen is really
looking good and we hope that we can start to paint the lower level
this weekend. The house looks so different than it did 3 weeks ago
when I closed on it.
After we dropped off the hardware and stuff, Lisa and I drove to my
parents house for a good home cooked meal. On tonight's menu were
steaks cooked out on the grill. So what better to photograph for
today's PAD entry than a photo of fire. I've been using my Canon
S400 for the past few days so I thought I'd break out Big Bertha.
