I live in Houston, Texas and I'm an avid amateur photographer. I have had a digital camera for a couple of years now but have never really spent the time to learn the basics of photography. I have always been a regular point and shoot kind of guy who always opted to leave the camera on automatic mode. I am interested in learning more about my camera’s manual settings and different photography techniques in general. I just recently upgraded from a Canon G5 up to a Canon 10D Digital SLR and have enjoyed it ever since.

The main reason I created this gallery was so that I would make it a point to actually use my camera on a daily basis.. I’m hoping that with all of the time spent taking pictures, I can better understand my camera and in turn become a better photographer. Along with learning more about my camera, I see myself also learning a lot about composition techniques in general. I plan to add a photo a day to this gallery everyday for the entire year. This gallery will also serve as a photographic journal of the places I have been and seen. Some photos will be great and of course some will be boring, the idea is to just get out there, take pictures and learn.   Abel Longoria.
